Description
The Lingam is conceptualized both as an emblem of masculine power, and of the cycles of creation, death and rebirth. It is often paired with a disk, or yoni, a symbolic shape of the feminine. Together they represent the macro and micro cosmos.
Iolite is a varietal of the mineral cordierite, named after French geologist Cordier, and it is rich in iron. The name iolite comes from ios, the Greek word for violet. Iolite is commonly known as “water sapphire” due to its deep blue sapphire color.
This Lingam specimen also has many sparkling flecks of violet and lavender. There is a starry sky quality about this piece. Iolite is particularly helpful with astral travel, for honing one’s intuition, and for deepening our inner vision.
